JVC HA-NC250 Noise Cancelling Headphones Review

Most noise cancelling headphones worth owning are expensive, and it is nothing to spend several hundred dollars or more on a top-shelf pair. However, most of us cannot or will not spend that much money on a pair of headphones. Fortunately, there are companies like JVC, manufacturers who have built a reputation for inexpensive yet high-quality noise cancelling headphones. One such model is the inexpensive and extremely popular JVC HA-NC80.

The model we are reviewing today, however, is its big brother, the more advanced, more expensive JVC HA-NC250 noise cancelling headphones.

With these, JVC manages to pack in a great deal of premium punch at a fraction of that select cost. However, what really sets the JVC HA-NC250 apart and makes it worth purchasing over the JVC HA-NC80, is its impressive fit and comfort, which is adjustable enough to conform to almost any head. Weighing in at just 5.3 ounces, these will go unnoticed most of the time, which is a stark difference from the JVC HA-NC80, which while tough to beat at that price are quite uncomfortable at times.

With the JVC HA-NC250, there is also the added benefit of increased sound quality. The JVC HA-NC80 sounds great, but audiophiles will note that the JVC HA-NC250 manages to produce sound on par with Bose’s Quietcomfort 3, the industry standard. The sound is full-bodied, and it has impressive bass quality. It also serves well as gaming headphones, although it may be overkill for most. We should note that some customers complain of a lesser sound experience with the noise cancelling feature turned on, but we never experienced that during our tests.

The Good:

The bottom line on the JVC HA-NC250 headphones is that they are both an excellent and affordable solution for those who want portable noise-cancelling headphones. They work just fine sitting at the desktop too, but the cable is very short, which could present a problem depending on the configuration. Therefore, you might need to purchase an extension, which will add to the cost slightly but not otherwise alter the experience.
